Operation Christmas Child
We partner with Samaritan's Purse on an annual basis, to send shoeboxes to children in war-torn or developing countries, bringing them hope and showing them love, at a time when many children globally, will receive presents from loved ones.
Last year, 56 shoe-boxes came directly from our church members, but over 80 boxes in total were left our church building in Trent Road, as other people used our church as a drop off location.
Samaritan's Purse shoe-box appeal went to 127 countries last year, we believe that the majority of the boxes from CCC went to Liberia and Moldova. We are informed that if you donate online for the transport costs, you can "follow your box" and find out where it went to! This year so far, Samaritan's Purse have the green light for over 70 countries globally, with changes daily! From the UK at present, we have 7 countries confirmed that we will be sending shoe-boxes to this year – they are: Albania, Belarus, ‘Central Asia’ (a closed country they are unable to name, otherwise the gifts will not be allowed into the country), Liberia, Nigeria, Moldova and Bosnia & Hertzegovina.
National collections week is 9th – 16th November, which is when the drop off locations, like CCC will be open to receive shoebox donations. However, shoebox online orders can be placed right up until Christmas, Samaritan's Purse can and do receive shoebox gifts all year!
The church opening hours during National Collections week are on the OCC website here.
