Staff and Leadership

Please find below an introduction to our church leaders and staff members.  We run our church using a core team of pastors, supported by a wider group of leaders for different specific areas of church activity.  While roles are assigned, the team is exactly that - a team that works closely together to serve the church, provide leadership and maintain and promote the church as part of the local community.

Our leadership team holds to a set of key values.  The team is:

  • Built on an open & honest friendship
  • Showing loving kindness & humility;
  • Working together faithfully & willingly;
  • Stepping forward together boldly...
  • ... With a purpose to serve and disciple others and bring glory to God

Core Leadership

ChrisAndDebraPastor/Team Leader: Chris Jackson

Chris is married to Debra and heads our leadership team at Trent Road.

A long-standing member of the church (over 30 years!), Chris served as worship pastor for many years, and is still actively involved in the music of the church.  He heads the preaching & discipleship team, but is also the church manager, overseeing much of the day-to-day activity at Trent Road.

Dave And Ashley croppedPastor: Ashley Eley

Ashley is married to Dave, and she works with Chris in guiding the leadership team as it serves the church.

She is the church administrator and a key member of the finance team, but Ashley is also a skilled and enthusiastic crafter, and oversees much of the craft of the church - including our annual craft fayre.

Helen And AshleyAssociate Pastor: Helen Latimer

Helen is married to Phil and has been part of the leadership team for several years. She has a particular passion for the local community and the natural world.

Helen has challenges with her health, limiting her levels of activity, but she is still very much a part of the leadership team.

Associate Pastor: Wayne Burchell (photo to follow)

Wayne has been associated with Chelmsford Community Church for nearly thirty years (nearly as long as Chris!) - though has spent a substantial part of that time working in Scotland and Ireland.  A graduate of Mattersey Bible College, Wayne has a passion for the Word of God but will turn his hand to most things. His other passion is board gaming.

Mulberry Group

The church benefits immensely from a wider group of leaders who take on responsibilities across the range of activities the church undertakes, both for its congregation and for the wider community.  This group of leaders - known internally as the "Mulberry Group" - meets regularly to grow together, equip each other and look forward together as we seek to fulfil God's plans for the church and for the community.

Trustees

The church has a group of trustees that oversee the church organisation.  The trustees have legal obligations given the church's status as a charity, but they also provide guidance and wisdom into the leadership team.
