We endeavour to make Chelmsford Community Church a welcoming place for all ages. With that in mind, we run our Sunday Club for children and young people and as our children grow, they also have the opportunity to attend Spree
Every Sunday - unless a service is planned as an All-Age Service - we encourage our younger attendees to join us in Sunday Club. Sunday Club runs during the second service (at 11:15am); we use games and crafts, music and videos and introduce them to Jesus along the way.
We organise our services so that everyone is together for the first part of the service. We will then invite the young people to head for Sunday Club, while the rest of the congregation have their "Sunday Club" (the sermon!).
We organise our Sunday Club into different age groups with different leaders for each group. All of our leaders, for all groups, are appointed by interview, receive safeguarding training and have DBS (formerly known as CRB) clearance.
Any visiting children and young people are welcome to join us - even if you are only staying for a week.
Every now and again - particularly at key festivals such as Christmas and Easter - we give Sunday Club a break and have a whole service with everyone together. This is usually a shorter service, and typically involves some gentle audience participation (nothing embarrassing!) and quite often involves prizes of a sweet nature...
Once a year, we invite our young people (8-15) to join us for a weekend of activities and teaching. Spree is organised by Urban Saints at the Frontier Centre, Northamptonshire. It's an opportunity for lots of youth groups to take advantage of great teaching and great facilities which provide for canoeing, archery, climbing, walking and the dreaded king swing. More information on Spree is available on the Urban Saints
